Paula Thomas: Photo Gallery and Editorial Services

I’m Paula Thomas, a freelance proofreader and CV writer based in north Wales.

I began my career in IT. For twenty years I worked in the Computer Operations and Testing and Implementation areas of a large finance company, acquiring technical and leadership skills on major migration programmes. Then, in 2004, I requested voluntary redundancy in order to relocate from the city to the countryside and become self-employed.

I passed the Proofreading and Editorial Skills course run by Chapterhouse Publishing and set up my own business, PT Proofreading Services, with the help of the Conwy Enterprise Agency. I renamed the business to PT Virtual Assistant in June 2007 to reflect the wider range of services I offered. I’ve since decided that name was a bit of a mouthful so (and hardly anyone knows what a Virtual Assistant is!) so my website is now www.paulathomas.co.uk. We have also expanded into photography, taking inspiration from the beautiful scenery we are lucky to be surrounded by.

My current technical skill set includes the Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, FrontPage and Publisher) and I’m also familiar with VB Web Designer.

I have gained experience in proofreading, editing and copywriting a variety of copy. My projects have included:

• Writing copy for a Manchester-based Internet design company;
• Editing text written by non-native English speakers for a Tunisian website;
• Producing CVs for IT managerial and technical staff;
• Proofreading and link checking the websites of several Internet design companies;
• Proofreading a thesis on using geranium extracts to cure TB;
• The design and build of two brochure websites, including one for the local garage.
